Okay, just a quick post.
Today was another very busy day. When I woke up this morning, I realized that despite all the heavy work yesterday, I didn’t hurt! All that work, all those shocks, and nary a complaint! I was in better shape than I thought! Under all this flab, I’m still totally ripped and-
Then I tried to move.
It wasn’t pretty.
I won’t bother to go into all of the whimpering and trying to make a deal with Jeebus; suffice it to say, ten minutes later a vaguely Mark-shaped bag of rusty hinges, barbed wire snippets, and those “stainless steel” bolts FA and I picked up the other day slowly and gingerly made its way out into the living room. The first thing I realized was that I’m 43 and my parents are in much better shape than I am. Yeperoo.
Anyway, the big project today was the fireplace. While Dad and I started in on it, J and Mom went to Home Depot to pick up supplies. Things went well – despite working with various stamped metal pieces and screws, nobody ended up bleeding, and a couple of hours later, the fireplace was done. It still needs some sanding and paint, but it’s done. Aaaand, we shouldn’t need to worry about it burning the house down now! 🙂
After that, we had a bite to eat and then hung out for a little while and talked. We didn’t get as much of that in as I’d hoped, but it was meant to be a project visit, and a ton of stuff got done. Flowerbeds, dirt around the house, dirt by the garage, garden, stone under the deck, fireplace, cleaning, etc, etc, etc. It was a very successful two days.
I was nervous about my folks coming over and working on stuff, but (as usual) it turned out that I didn’t need to be. Everything went very well and I am enormously grateful for all the help (THANK YOU!!!).
My folks are looking forward to the next set of projects. As for me, I think I will reserve judgment until my eyelid muscles stop hurting.
Stay safe.
