And The Weekend Is Over

Song: “Perform This Way” by ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic

Mood: 7

Nightmares: 3

It’s been a good weekend. I forced myself to stay awake on Friday and then slept very well Friday night. I think I’ve caught up on sleep this weekend, despite some nightmares.

One of J’s aunts had cardboard boxes full of old slides that were just sitting in her basement. J offered to go through them and sort out the duplicates and ones that weren’t interesting. I think there was well over a thousand slides on carousels and in slide boxes. J has been working on them in her spare time over the last couple of weeks and finally finished the other day. Last night, we worked on getting the old Sawyer’s 550R projector working. After some messing around and a bit of panic from a strong burning smell, we were looking at slides from the 1960s. It was pretty neat.

Today, my mother-in-law stopped by and she, J, and I went through a couple of carousels of pictures. I think she enjoyed it more than she had expected. J and I had a good time too. My mother-in-law took the slides and projector with her when she left. She also brought over some corned beef sandwiches from a deli for lunch and they were delicious. It was good to see her again – I’m glad she stopped by.

After she left, I went downstairs. I think I’ve said this before but I don’t feel quite right until after I’ve spent at least a little bit of time working on my mindfulness and worry exercises. Some days they go well, while other days it’s more difficult to focus and clear my mind. Today things went well and I could feel the difference when I went back upstairs. I worry a bit about what’s going to happen in the future when I don’t have the time in the mornings to sit down and work on that stuff.

I think J and I are going to watch another episode of Columbo this evening. The one we watched yesterday had an actor playing twins in it. They actually had a scene where both twins were on the screen at the same time. Not bad for 1973.

Stay safe.
